CARES Act Quarterly Report October -December 2020

Report Date: January 6, 2021

Talmudical Seminary Oholei Torah has signed and returned the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

Talmudical Seminary Oholei Torah will receive or has received a total of $269,075 from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.

Talmudical Seminary Oholei Torah has disbursed $268,240 to 413 students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of December 31, 2020.

The estimated total number of students at the institution eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act was 413 (as of Dec. 31, 2020)

The method used by Talmudical Seminary Oholei Torah to determine which students receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants and how much they would receive is based on the expenses for food, course material, equipment needed to participate in the educational program due to the disruption of campus operations, travel home expenses and health care related expenses. In the first round of grants, $800 was awarded to a dependent student. In the second round, the remaining funds were disbursed to on campus students who enrolled in Fall 2020. All students enrolled are dependent students.

Students received the following instructions with their grants: “As per the CARES Act, these grants are to be used for expenses that are related to the disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19, including things like course materials and technology as well as food, housing, health care, and childcare.”
